We appreciate your suggestion to improve the estimations with the penalized method to reduce sparse data bias and we agree with its application . Logistic regression analysis using the Firth's penalized maximum likelihood estimation showed that the odds ratio (OR) of absolute ascending aortic diameter ≥ 3.3 cm was 47.9 (95% confidence interval [CI], 8.5 to 270.3), still a significant association.
