About this document
Skeletal Muscle Development Overview by Vanessa Carino is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Skeletal muscle develops from somites that form along the sides of the embryo during early development. The somites differentiate into myotomes which then subdivide into epaxial and hypaxial muscle groups. The epaxial muscles become the extensors of the neck, back, and lumbar region while the hypaxial muscles develop into specific muscles of the neck, thorax, lumbar region, pelvis, and perineum.
