What is TARD Current Transformers Overview about?

The TARD is a toroidal current transformer that can be combined with RD earth leakage relays to detect current leakages due to loss of ground insulation. The TARD fits on the live wires of the single, two or three phase supply and sends a signal proportional to the vectorial sum of currents to the differential relay. It is made of highly permeable magnetic materials and has insulation tested to 2.5kV. Connections between the TARD and RD should be made with shielded cable and be as short as possible to avoid
