The Yellow September campaign held by the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry aims to demystify suicide and raise awareness that it can be prevented. The campaign is held on September 10th for World Suicide Prevention Day. Suicide involves sociocultural, genetic, and environmental factors, but the presence of a mental disorder is a strong risk factor. According to the World Health Organization, more than 800,000 people commit suicide each year worldwide, which is about one every 40 seconds.
