The Department of Agriculture has clarified the importation process for two species of Sakura trees from Japan, Somei-Yoshino and Yama-Zakura, which are intended for establishing a natural study area in Thailand. An Import Permit is required along with a Phytosanitary Certificate and a Certificate of Non-GMOs, and these species are classified as non-prohibited items under the Plant Quarantine Act. Importation must ensure that planting materials are not prohibited and that the trees are free from quarantine
