This study explores how anthropomorphism in cognitive agents affects trust resilience during interactions with automated systems. Through three experiments, it was found that more human-like agents foster greater trust resilience, especially under uncertainty, and that incorporating human-like trust repair behaviors can mitigate trust breakdowns. The findings suggest that anthropomorphism is a crucial factor in developing theories of human-agent trust and designing automation systems.
