What is East Asian Paper Marbling History about?
An early reference to marbling in paper is found in a 10th century Chinese text that describes a type of decorative paper called "drifting-sand paper" made in Sichuan. This paper was created by dragging paper through fermented flour paste mixed with colors. A second type used paste from honey locust pods mixed with croton oil and water.
