In December 2011, 16-year-old Amelia Hempleman-Adams became the youngest person to ski to the South Pole, completing a challenging expedition with her father, David, an experienced explorer. Amelia prepared extensively for the journey and carried gifts from Alexandra Shackleton, the granddaughter of polar explorer Ernest Shackleton. Upon her return, she expressed mixed feelings about the experience, enjoying the adventure but missing her friends and finding the conditions difficult.
