Williams argues that the concept of the passage of time is false. He claims that there is no single present moment moving along the time axis, but rather that all moments are considered "the present" when we experience them. To believe in the passage of time, one would need to propose another timescale to measure the rate of change of the present over time, leading to an infinite regress. Williams instead proposes a "theory of the manifold" where reality consists of three dimensions of space and one of time
