This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the relationship between alcohol consumption and leukemia risk. The authors identified 18 studies including over 7,000 leukemia cases. They derived pooled estimates using random-effects models and performed dose-risk analyses. They found no increased risk of leukemia among alcohol drinkers. A modest reduced risk of approximately 10% emerged for light alcohol drinkers. The results varied somewhat by leukemia subtype and geographical region.
