This thesis investigates the effects of boundary layer ingestion (BLI)-type inlet distortion on turbofan engine performance through an experimental analysis. A modified JT15D-1 turbofan engine was tested with and without inlet distortion created by a wire mesh screen. Results showed a 15.5% decrease in thrust and 14% increase in fuel consumption with distortion.
