This article discusses simulations of corona discharge in multiconductor electrostatic precipitators. It identifies a common condition where previous approaches fail and proposes a novel, stabilized formulation. A Newton-Raphson scheme is defined for a finite element discretization of the coupled electrostatic and electrokinetic problems. The approach is validated on a benchmark problem and applied to an industrial problem to demonstrate its effectiveness.
