This document investigates the microgeometry of meso bevel and helical gears manufactured using wire electro discharge machining (WEDM). Effects of eight WEDM parameters on pitch and profile errors were studied through experiments. Examination revealed the gears have uniform tooth profiles free of defects and microcracks. WEDM is shown to be a potential alternative for net-shape manufacturing of high quality meso gears without post-processing.
