The Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta was established in 1914 as the Atlanta Boys Club to address youth delinquency in South Atlanta. It opened its first location on Washington Street. In 1951, the Metropolitan Atlanta Girls Club opened on Formwalt Street with the goal of teaching girls domestic roles.
