The College of Surveying and Land Management (CSLM) as a faculty of the University of West-Hungary has long-term experiences in sta development for Land Surveying and Land Administration. In the last 5 years CSLM has been involved in ®ve European Union (EU) funded distance learning material development projects targeting professionals in land administration and land/geographic information management. For the sta of Land Oces and Surveying/GIS companies distance learning oers a particularly ̄exible and eective way of training, eliminating most of the barriers, providing much better accessibility than traditional education. The author gives a review of the results, present status and future activities of these projects, describes the vision of future of the professional development and associated implementation strategy.
