This study developed a rapid in vitro propagation technique for sugarcane variety 018. Young leaves and eye buds were used as explants. The best medium for callus induction from leaves was MS medium with 2,4-D (3.0 mg/l) and kinetin (0.2 mg/l), which produced callus in 83% of explants. The best medium for shoot formation from nodal eye buds was MS medium with BAP (1.0 mg/l) and kinetin (0.5 mg/l). The technique was able to rapidly multiply shoots through subculturing.
