What is Borderline Personality Disorder and Sexual Abuse, A Systematic Review about?

This systematic review analyzed 40 studies on the relationship between sexual abuse and borderline personality disorder. The review found that childhood sexual abuse is a significant risk factor for developing BPD, and rates of sexual abuse are higher in BPD patients compared to other personality disorders. Sexual abuse history predicts more severe clinical presentation of BPD and poorer prognosis, especially for suicidality and self-harm.
