What is AASH News about?

Starting in 1996, AASH initiated three projects designed to develop and implement teaching programs in headache for family practice residents, neurology residents, and medical students. Through the sponsorship of GlaxoWellcome, Inc; Zeneca Pharmaceuticals; and Bristol-Myers Products, respectively, residency training directors and curriculum directors were invited to our educational symposia in Scottsdale in November 1996 and Cancun in January 1997. After these educators attended the meeting sessions, they participated in focus groups in which they discussed with their peers the headache educational experience The focus groups are intended to inform AASH about the level of headache knowledge and head ache educational needs that these special group of educators bring to, and subsequently take away from, our meetings. Most leave with a better understanding of the impact and prominence of headache in the practice of medicine. These educators, as well as colleagues who will attend future meetings, will help AASH develop educational programs and materials that will be used in training in order to produce better informed future generations of physicians.
