Can I read Thin Plate Deflection on EtoBox?

Thin Plate Deflection by John P.T. Mo; Sherman C.P. Cheung; Raj Das is a book available to read on EtoBox.

What is Thin Plate Deflection about?

Plate structures are widely used in many engineering fields, for example, aerospace, mechanical, and automotive engineering disciplines. The theory for plate defletion is more complicated than beam deflection. Nevertheless, it is necessary for many engineering areas. As the beam theory is highly important in civil engineering, the plate theory is equally an important part of transport engineering, whereby the use of plate and shell structures is very prevalent, especially in aerospace engineering. Analytical solutions based on elasticity theory exist for many types of beam as well as plate problems. However there are several complex plate structures for which an exact solution often is difficult to find, and hence numerical solutions for such cases can serve as a good alternative approach. This chapter presents a few plate deformation problems which have known analytical solutions to be able to verify the numerical solutions. Engineers may prefer numerical solutions for complex problems, particularly where the analytical solutions are difficult to obtain.
