"In his course, Marc Fallon, Professor at the Catholic University of Leuven, sets out to measure the impact of the Community's body of rules relating to the internal market on the general theory of conflict of jurisdictions and conflicts of law. To this purpose, Professor Fallon demonstrates that it is possible for the Community to treat issues of private law, by first of all giving us an overview of the domain of Community law. The influence of Community law on private law can manifest itself in two radically different contexts, which Professor Fallon presents one after the other: in monitoring the compatibility of private law and the Rome treaty, and the definition of private law concepts as conditions for the application of Community acts concerning the internal market or for the functioning of an international organization acting through the intervention of natural persons necessarily engaged in transborder situations. Professor Fallon then evaluates the impact of the body of the Community's rules relating the internal market on the general theory of conflict of jurisdictions and conflicts of law, while following a traditional distinction of this general theory, that is to say,
