Euglena uses a long flagellum for locomotion. The flagellum has a 9+2 structure with peripheral microtubule doublets and two central singlet microtubules. Dynein arms along the peripheral microtubules generate force through ATP hydrolysis, causing the microtubules to slide past each other and bend the flagellum.
