About this document

Zia-ul-Haq by Margoob Ahmad is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Zia-ul-Haq seized power from Bhutto in 1977 and became president of Pakistan. He introduced broad Islamization policies between 1978-1988, including establishing Sharia courts, banning interest, imposing Hudood Ordinances. Zia used Islamization to counter political opponents like PPP, revive state identity, and address social issues. However, his policies also increased sectarianism and radicalism in Pakistan.
