What is Comparative Aspects Of Nutritional And Metabolic Diseases about?

Abstract: Seven review articles by authorities in their respective fields discuss various aspects of nutritional metabolic related human and animal diseases. Intended for clinicians, researchers, and students interested in comparative metabolic diseases, the papers discuss hypoglycemia in pregnancy; metabolic interassociations of drugs and nutrients; clinical development and diagnosis of urolithiasis related to urinary calculi; incidences of water and electrolyte imbalances during prolonged diarrhea; and the characterization and causation of abnormalities in the transport, synthesis, or catabolism of hemoglobin. Two of the papers specifically address disease in ruminants; 1) lactic acidosis, and 2) hypomagnesemic tetany (due to magnesium deficiency). Most of the review papers contain sections devoted to diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and prevention. (wz)
