This document presents a theoretical comparison of the performance of two eco-friendly refrigerants, R432A and R433A, as alternatives to the ozone depleting R22 refrigerant in a simple vapor compression refrigeration system. The results show that the properties and performance of R432A and R433A are very similar to R22, with coefficient of performances only 4.5% and 5.4% lower than R22, respectively. Both alternative refrigerants exhibit better pressure ratios, discharge temperatures and pressures than R22.
