This document announces an international conference that will explore two paths of semiotics: from observation to text, and from text to culture. The conference seeks to (1) examine how meaning is captured and inscribed during the process of becoming text, and (2) analyze how semiotic tools used for textual analysis can be applied or adapted for analyzing culture. Participants are invited to present work relating to these topics, with a deadline of April 10th to submit abstracts. The conference will be held
