Machining of Grinding Wheel with Carbide Cutting Tools by T. Matsuo; K. Nakayama; K. Tsukamoto is a Engineering article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Machining of Grinding Wheel with Carbide Cutting Tools about?

The machining of grinding wheel is an important research problem related to wheel finishing process o r truing operation. In this study. the turn- ing experiment of grinding wheel has been performed hy the use of varioiis single-point carbidc cutting tools. The work-wheel was IOOnim dia. white alumina vitrificd wheels of different hardness. while the cutting tool was P10,KIO. and KO1 cemented carbide tools. The cutting speed ranged from 30 to 1 SOm/min, the maximum depth of cut was 1 Omni. and tlie fred was 0.2 t o O.hmm/r. Thus. the tool wcar and cutting force were measured for various cutting conditions, and the optimuni operating condition was obtained. It is evident from this study that grinding wheel can he cut easily hy using a proper carbide cutting tool, such as KO1 and K 10. and by selecting relatively low cutting speeds. The cutting mechanism was also studied.
