This research analyzes the textual metafunction in the inauguration speeches of President Joko Widodo from 2014 to 2024, focusing on the thematization system involving themes and rhemes. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data from transcriptions of the speeches and applying Systemic Functional Linguistics theory. Results indicate an increase in theme usage from 42.2% in 2014 to 57.8% in 2019, with a shift in rheme dominance from material processing to behavior processing.
