A vertical glass tube with an inner diameter of 1 mm was used to measure the rise of water at 20°C due to an applied pressure. The water rose 25 cm into the tube. Accounting for surface tension effects which caused an initial 3 cm rise, the applied pressure was estimated to cause a 22 cm rise. Using the density of water and this height, the applied pressure was calculated to be approximately 2160 Pa.
