What is Direct Action Day and India about?

Direct Action Day, called by the All India Muslim League on August 16, 1946, aimed to demonstrate Muslim solidarity for a separate state, resulting in significant communal violence. The 3 June Plan, announced in 1947, proposed the partition of India into two dominions, India and Pakistan, to prevent civil war amid rising tensions. The Radcliffe Award established the boundary between the two states, leading to disappointment for the Muslim League as some Muslim-majority areas were allocated to India.
