What is Thyristor Turn-On Snubber Circuit Design about?
A snubber circuit protects a thyristor from high rates of change of current (di/dt) during turn-on and high rates of change of voltage (dv/dt) during turn-off. The turn-on snubber uses an inductor L1 to limit di/dt, while an auxiliary circuit of R1 and D1 allows discharging of L1 during turn-off. The turn-off snubber uses a resistor R2 and capacitor C2 to limit dv/dt, while D2 and R2 allow discharging of C2 during turn-on.
