Yoshiokaite is a calcium aluminum silicate mineral that was discovered on the Moon near the Apollo 14 landing site. It occurs as fractured crystal fragments in shocked regolith breccia and devitrified glass. Chemically, it consists mainly of calcium, aluminum, and silicon oxides. Yoshiokaite has a hexagonal crystal structure and is a metastable phase that forms from the shock melting of alkali anorthite on the lunar surface.
