Several fragments of ancient amphorae from the 4th-7th centuries AD were discovered off the coast of Croatia. The fragments were of the rare Spatheion type of amphora produced in Tunisia. Conservators spent 8 months removing deposits from the fragments through regular water changes. They then reconstructed one full amphora at 61cm high through drawings and joining the fragments with gypsum additions to fill gaps, and toning the surface to resemble the original pottery color.
