What is Air-Methane Ratio for SOFC Stability about?

This study investigates the effect of air addition to methane on the performance stability and coking of NiO–YSZ anodes in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). An optimal air to methane ratio of 1:5 was identified, which successfully mitigated carbon deposition and ensured stable operation over 100 hours. The findings suggest that this air addition strategy could enhance the viability of SOFCs directly fed with natural gas, warranting further investigation at the stack level.
