Run capacitors are rated between 3-70 microfarads and are designed for continuous use while motors are running. They help energize a second phase winding and create an even magnetic field. Starting capacitors have higher microfarad ratings above 70 and are only energized momentarily to rapidly bring motors up to 3/4 speed before disconnecting. Both must match manufacturers
