This document describes an experiment to measure the kinetic parameters of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) isoenzymes from heart and skeletal muscle tissues. LDH catalyzes the conversion of pyruvate to lactate using NADH as a cofactor. The experiment will measure initial reaction rates of LDH from each tissue source across a range of lactate substrate concentrations to determine the Michaelis constant (Km) and maximum reaction rate (Vmax) for each isoenzyme.
