Noel Sales tied up his two sons and beat them with a wooden stick for leaving the house without permission, killing one son, Noemer, and inflicting minor injuries on the other son, Junior, that healed within a week. Pursuant to Articles 63 and 64 of the criminal code, Sales was sentenced to reclusion perpetua, the lesser penalty for parricide given the mitigating circumstance of his voluntary surrender and lack of aggravating circumstances, and 20 days imprisonment for the minor injuries to Junior.
