This study evaluates the diagnostic potential of Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 4 Alpha (HNF4α) as a marker for detecting endocervical glandular lesions (EGLs) in alcohol-fixed cytological smears. HNF4α demonstrated 100% sensitivity and specificity for EGL detection, significantly outperforming traditional cytomorphological diagnoses. The findings suggest that HNF4α immunocytochemistry can enhance early diagnosis of cervical cancer, regardless of HPV status.
