This study evaluated the reproductive and teratogenic effects of sufentanil and alfentanil in Sprague-Dawley rats. Timed pregnant rats were implanted with osmotic pumps delivering either saline (control), sufentanil at doses of 10, 50, or 100 ug/kg/day, or alfentanil at 8 mg/kg/day from gestation day 5 through 20.
