What is Understanding Febrile Seizures about?

Febrile seizures are seizures that occur between 6-60 months of age associated with a fever of at least 100.4°F, that are not caused by central nervous system infection or metabolic imbalance, and that occur in the absence of a prior seizure history. A simple febrile seizure lasts less than 15 minutes and does not recur within a 24-hour period. Evaluation of a first simple febrile seizure typically does not require a lumbar puncture, EEG, or neuroimaging unless other neurological abnormalities are present.
