What is Laws of Floatation Explained about?
Archimedes first stated the principle of floatation, which is that an object will float if it displaces a weight of fluid equal to its own weight. There are three main laws of floatation: 1) An object floats if its density is less than or equal to the density of the fluid. 2) If the densities are equal, the object floats fully submerged in neutral equilibrium. 3) For neutral equilibrium, the weight of the object must equal the weight of the displaced fluid.
