The Supreme Court ruled that the Regional Trial Court of Iloilo City did not have jurisdiction over the libel case against Vicente Foz Jr. and Danny Fajardo. The information charging them with libel did not establish that their newspaper was printed or published in Iloilo City, or that the offended party, Dr. Edgar Portigo, was residing in Iloilo City at the time of the offense. As such, an essential element of jurisdiction was not satisfied. The Court overturned the guilty verdict and dismissed the case.
