What is A Comparison Of Cardiovascular Outcomes Among Sars-cov-2 Positive Patients, Sars-cov-2 Negative Patients, And A Historical Cohort about?
Background: Recovery from a SARS-CoV-2 infection varies among individuals. Some report symptoms for weeks or months after the acute infection, and in some, new symptoms emerge. Symptoms range from mild to incapacitating and can involve multiple organ systems. Such symptoms and damage have been termed post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC). COVID-19 infection has been shown to affect the cardiovascular (CV) system, but whether symptoms and organ damage have yet resulted in an increase in diagnoses and events has not been entirely determined. Methods: Outpatients >18 yrs with 30-days survival testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 were matched to SARS-CoV-2 negative and historical patients by age (±1 yrs), sex, and index month seen. Pts were followed for 6-month and 1-year CV outcomes occurring >30 days after index. ## Results: The baseline characteristics of the 444,474 (148,158/group) pts are shown in Table 1. Event rates were low and generally similar between the groups after adjustment, with chest pain being significantly greater in SARS-CoV-2 positive pts (Table 2 and3). ## Conclusion: This study found chest pain to be more common among SARS-CoV-2 positive pts, but no other
