Smt. Chandrabai Borkar was a staunch devotee of Sai Baba who visited Shirdi often. She wanted to commemorate Sai Baba in Vile Parle but her plan did not materialize until 1958 when a statue of Sai Baba was installed in her bunglow. This prompted her daughter-in-law Mrs. Mangalabai to become a devotee overnight. The temple has since become a popular site for Sai devotees in the area to visit and celebrate festivals from Shirdi throughout the year.
