Particles were emitted from a single emitter in Maya to simulate the motion of water from a fountain. Blobby surface particles fell under gravity and collided with the fountain surface. When the original particles died, larger cloudy particles were emitted through particle collisions. The particles were rendered using a batch script to sequentially render each frame and save as TIFFs with transparency. The particle renders were then combined in After Effects along with the scene.
