Flow cytometry can be used to diagnose acute leukemias by identifying cell surface markers. There are two main types of acute leukemia - acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). ALL is identified by markers like CD19, CD10, CD34 for B-ALL and CD7, CD5, CD3 for T-ALL. AML is identified by markers like CD13, CD33, CD117, CD34.
