## What Is Popular Music? Popular music, quoting Serge Denidoff, is like a unicorn: "everyone knows what is supposed to look like, but no one has ever seen it" [1]. Generally speaking, popular music consists of a hybrid of musical influences, styles, and traditions. Thus, popular music can be defined as music with a wide circulation, to be listened to through the media, such as the radio, the television, and social channels. According to the Italian musicologist L. Pestalozza, popular music can be defined as "extra-cultured," thus indicating a music genre outside academic boundaries and in a context not classifiable as "classic" or "cultured" [2].
