Interspecies Comparisons of Plasma Half-life of Trimethoprim in Relation to Body Mass by D.A. PASHOV; L.D. LASHEV; I.B. MATEV; I.N. KANELOV is a Medicine article available to read on EtoBox.
What is Interspecies Comparisons of Plasma Half-life of Trimethoprim in Relation to Body Mass about?
The relationship between body mass and plasma half‐life of trimethoprim was studied in 10 different species of animals and man using published data. Log half‐life was positively and significantly correlated to log body mass based on individual measurements in herbivorous animals (__n__=23, __P__<0.01), in herbivorous animals+pigs (__n__=29, __P__<0.01), in ungulates (__n__=27, __P__<0.01), in ruminants (__n__=16, __P__<0.01) and in non‐herbivorous mammals, except pigs (__n__=6, P<0.05). The correlation was described by the allometric equations: __t__~1⁄2β~=27 W^0.26^ in herbivorous animals and __t__~1⁄2β~=125 W^0.32^ in non‐herbivorous animals except pigs.
