Franck-Hertz experiment was conducted to measure the excitation energy of argon atoms. Electrons were fired through argon gas and the current was measured at different voltages. The current initially increased with voltage until reaching a critical voltage of 2V, where it sharply dropped before increasing again at 4V. This pattern repeated in increments of 2V.
