After the third season of excavating at the Nag Hammadi site of Qibli, Grossmann was able to better understand the original shape of the basilica based on new architectural features discovered. Several rows of large granite columns helped delineate the aisles of the church. The central nave was unusually narrow compared to other examples. Burials and remains of earlier occupation from the 4th century AD were also found at the site and may be related to the church founded by Pachomius.
