About this document
Turgo Turbine: Medium Head Efficiency by Lucy Tyas is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The Turgo turbine is an impulse water turbine designed for medium head applications between 15 and 300 meters. It works similarly to a Pelton wheel but has some advantages making it more cost effective for certain applications. Turgo turbines can achieve efficiencies as high as 90% and are commonly used in small hydroelectric projects where low cost is important. Water passes through nozzles to gain kinetic energy and is directed at the split runner to spin the turbine with high efficiency.
